Day and Night, 1938

Two cities depicted here, one illuminated from the light of day, the other under the blanket of night. Between the cities, gray squares (apparently farmland) morph upwards into flocks of birds tessellated together in unity. The lighter grey birds morph into the light of day on the left, where the darker birds change into the night sky on the right.
