Schulz on Peppermint Patty:
"Years ago, I developed the character Peppermint Patty because I happened to be walking through our living room. I saw a dish of Peppermint Patties and I thought that would be a good name for a character, so I drew the face to match the name."

Captain of her baseball and football teams, Peppermint Patty (Patricia Reichardt) would rather play sports than be in school. A perpetual D- student, she attends school with Franklin and her best friend Marcie and struggles to stay awake during class. She calls Charlie Brown "Chuck" and she and Marcie each have a crush on him. Although most of the kids talk about both parents, Peppermint Patty talks only about her father. She proudly relates that he calls her his "rare gem."
